Friday 26th.
Tonight we went to Anna and Stewart’s for a one day late Thanksgiving Dinner (Anna is from Indiana). Turkey, salads of all sorts, sweet potatoes cooked with butter and marshmallows, pecan pie, pumkin roulade – good practice for our trip to the US next week. Stewart offered to call a taxi to take us home, which we all felt was not really necessary given that their windows look into ours across the road.
Thursday 25th.
Visiting El in Largs today. Bill suggested we walk to ferry – good exercise and a pleasant thing to do. The last of the autumn leaves are clinging to the trees, still enough to have the wow factor in some cases. Sat in El’s cosy living room and put the world to rights. Wish we could do the same for her leg, which is still causing problems and mystifying the medics.
Thursday night - Fun club. A host of juniors – about 12 but is seemed like 20 – all rushing about full of the energy children get which depletes the energy we’ve been left with at our age. Then the seniors – becoming young women now – lovely to see them still coming and listening and singing and chatting. Disaster on the supper front though – we usually have nachos and cheese and pizza. Heather was to bring the latter, which her mum had bought. Unfortunately, her dad was making tea that night and unawares he served up the pizzas which had conveniently been in the freezer. Ooops.
Wednesday 24th.
Back to Millport – catching up with undone housework, then coffee with Joan in the laundry to catch up on Millport and family business/chat.
Tuesday 23rd.
Molly. ‘Granny doing? Grandpa doing? Teddy hiding!’ We went exploring, in search of tea and cakes, to Clachan of Campsie. A little village, so far undiscovered (by us – lots of other people obviously knew about it as there is a bus service). A row of little shop and the start of a hiking route. A bicycle hire and repair shop for mountain bikers. Molly was fascinated by the man in head to toe lycra. She’s starting young....
Monday 22nd.
School for Ryall. The back to tidy the flat while Bill painted Northland Drive.
