Thursday 2nd.

Millport was cold and clear – no more snow. We left just before lunch as more snow was forecast – wouldn’t do to be stuck on the island while the plane left for Washington without us. We had lunch at the Hungry Monk, looking out at the fountain, frozen and covered in snow. We then grabbed Usha and took her to Newton Mearns to meet the kids. Ben hid under the table, but was eventually
persuaded to play trains with her. Then it was dinner with Usha, Fiona, Bincy, Catriona, Bill and me at a local Indian restaurant to celebrate Bincy’s graduation – poor Usha shivered and slithered over the heaps of snow and ice in Dumbarton Road – then off to Travelodge at Airport. Meanwhile, texting all and sundry resulted in a solution to Donald’s problem – still snowed in, he could not reach Glasgow to collect Ryall, nor could Catriona. But Auntie Jan and Uncle David rode to the rescue! Family is a great thing at any time, but especially in emergencies.
